Hurricane Isaac now visible on Radar

From the National Weather Service Lake Charles: At 5 PM CDT the center of Hurricane Isaac was estimated by NOAA Doppler radar to be about 30 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi–and about 105 miles south-southeast of New Orleans.

A wind gust of 71 mph was reported at Boothville, La., and sustained winds of 44 mph, with a gust of 55 mph, was observed within the past hour at Lakefront Airport in New Orleans.

A storm surge of 7.1 feet was reported by a NOAA National Ocean Service tide gauge at Shell Beach, La., and a storm surge of 4.8 feet was observed in Waveland, Miss. More info…
